ESPIN project and preliminary surveyThe preliminary survey of ESPIN project has officially ended. ASA Quality Services OÜ thanks all participants.The aim of ESPIN project is to increase the competitiveness of Estonian small and medium-sized software companies by taking the experience and know-how of similar projects that have given positive results in Finland to Estonia. The project offers software quality consultations and training, where the main focus is on the assessment and improvement of software processes and the implementation of testing-centred development in companies participating in the project. Software process assessment is based on ISO/IEC 15504 and Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Continuous Representation process models. The project is carried out by Tallinn University of Technology Department of Computer Engineering and ASA Quality Services OÜ from Estonia and Finnish Software Measurement Association (FiSMA RY) from Finland. The participants in the project are Estonian software companies that have been chosen on the basis of the preliminary survey. These companies will undergo a thorough software process quality monitoring and a detailed action plan will be put together for the improvement of software processes in the future development projects of those companies. Benefits for the participating companies – productivity growth and increase in the number of employees in the participating software company, increase in export volumes due to the ability to satisfy the quality demands of foreign customers, unified development in all software projects through the implementation of standardized activities. The aim of the preliminary survey of ESPIN project is to determine the importance of software quality in Estonian software companies and the willingness to participate in a software quality improvement project, in the course of which different testing and development techniques will be developed and implemented. In the preliminary survey the main problems of Estonian software companies in the quality area as well as wishes to improve one’s activities will be charted. In the course of the preliminary survey Estonian software companies and biggest software purchasers will be questioned. The preliminary survey is carried out by Tallinn University of Technology Department of Computer Engineering and ASA Quality Services OÜ.
